Adobe Express Templates - Adobe & National Women's Soccer League

Advertising Illustration, Graphic Deisign, Sports

I had the pleasure of being invited by Adobe and NWSL to create exclusive assets for their 2024 season partnership, thus helping soccer fans express their love on social media and beyond. For this project, I represented the North Carolina Courage, The state's official women's soccer team. During the creative process, I presented and defended ideas, sketches, and final files to multiple stakeholders representing NC Courage, NWSL, and Adobe. It was amazing to be engaged in a project aimed at giving more visibility to women's sports through the power of fandom.

My assets & templates are now available on Adobe Express, Adobe's all-in-one platform.

Fans can use the templates available on Adobe Express, or even play with individual assets I designed to create custom graphics for their specific needs. These are videos I created and animated on the Adobe Express web app

Adobe launched a promotional video on all their social platforms, introducing illustrators featured on the project, as well as the inspirations, and objectives of the partnership. I was in charge of using the NC Courage soccer team's colors and elements (below) to create unique assets that would resonate with their young, modern, & mostly female fanbase.

I was also responsible for designing an original poster that fans could customize, print, and hang on their walls. However, I had so much fun on this project and developed multiple poster options. The team then allowed two of my poster options (above) to be available on the Express app.

Inspo Process

To become familiar with the fandom, I started studying their social media channels to observe the visual style. Photos of the matches, marketing shots & casual pictures of the players allowed me to visualize their color palette beyond their official branding. I observed that their jersey colors were bold and bright, and that the colors present in a soccer field also integrate into that visual universe.

I also conducted a study of how fans communicate online to better understand the relationship between them and the team. What do they say to celebrate a win? How do they show appreciation? What's their default language? Internal slangs? What emojis do they use?

Illustration Process

On iPad, I used free shapes to quickly communicate my concepts to various stakeholders, including Adobe, NWSL & NC Courage leadership.

If approved, the idea would be refined using Adobe Illustrator, focusing on contrast and hierarchy of elements before testing any colors.

Finally, the last phase was to experiment with colors. Because all the elements I created are modular, they can be swapped to create different compositions.

Here are all my variations for the poster part of the project. Posters 2 and 4 were chosen.
