Verily Me interface Illustrations
Illustration, Visual Design, User Interface Design
Google commissioned Huge to design the visual & writen language for Verily Me, an AI-first health company. Lightpath is their new application that aims to help patients stay on track with health-related goals set by their healthcare professionals.
Client: Verily Health
Huge invited me to create a set of original illustrations for Lightpath's user interface. Working daily with a team of 2 other designers, I helped deliver over 200 original visual assets depicting objects, medications, tools, foods, and characters over 6 months. These assets needed to work across different formats, light and dark modes, and be created with animation in mind.
My challenges during initial research included determining which motifs needed to be illustrated by analyzing and categorizing Verily's extensive documentation on behavioral change tactics, which informed the app's hundreds of missions and activities. Here is a group of refined sketches I drew myself using a digital tablet. These sketches were then presented to the client for approval. If approved, we'd proceed with vector work.
I also contributed by pushing for an illustration style that was inclusive. This meant making sure any details added were visible in a mobile-first application and that all motifs were easily recognized by people of different cultures, ages, and backgrounds.
Visual assets were also used for marketing materials present on the website, app store, and social media channels to illustrate Lightpath's capabilities and health-related posts.
